Key Tasks and responsibilities of the Assignment
The incumbent to ensure that the following key results are achieved:
1. Safe and appropriate driving of UNICEF vehicles (including armored vehicles) for the transport of UNICEF staff in the Gaza Strip;
2. Accompany visiting UNICEF staff on their field trips in Gaza while keeping contact to the FSCO and the UNDSS Radio Room. Brief visitors upon their arrival on vehicle transportation security procedures while in Gaza.
3. Ensure the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle, incl. checks of oil, water, battery, brakes, tires, etc. Perform minor repairs and arranges for other repairs. Ensure that the vehicle is kept clean.
4. Record all movements of the vehicle, daily mileage, gas consumption by using the vehicle control sheet.
5. Ensuring the vehicle is equipped with emergency safety equipment (flak jackets, helmets and handheld VHF radios.)
6. Ensure that the steps required by rules and regulations are taken, in case of involvement in an accident.
7. Deliver and collects mail, documents and other items and maintaining high professional image standard when engaging with others
8. Conduct minor office work, incl. photocopying, answering phone calls, send faxes, purchase necessary equipment such as stationary and perform other duties as required.
9. Assist with the monitoring of movement and storage of emergency supplies.
10. Translate from Arabic to English for International Staff as required.
11. Performs other duties, as required.
Selection Criteria
Academic Qualifications
Primary education; driver’s license; knowledge of UN driving rules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repair., training and certificate for operating armored vehicle and holding a license for Commercial Vehicles exceeding 4 tons will be a distinct advantage.
Work Experience
Two years work experience as a driver with safe driving record. Ability to carryout preventive maintenance an advantage, Previous driving experience with the UN or International NGO. Understanding of UNDSS security rules and regulations.

Languages
Fluency in English and Arabic (spoken and written). Hebrew is an asset.
Computer
Knowledge of Computer Applications mainly Microsoft Office desirable
